Overnight bus from Hanoi to Hue

sunny 38 °C

Yesterday after getting dropped back to Hanoi, I met up with Victoria again and we took the overnight bus (15hrs) to Hue. I did manage to sleep thanks to fully reclining seats and luckily feel rested today. We arrived, checked into a guest house and did some exploring. The town has an old town inside surrounding walls called the Citadel which we had a look at. The scenery is fantastic.

Apart from some sightseeing it has been an easy day which is why I am chilling in the internet cafe drinking green tea. The town is pretty small but really beautiful and a definite must see for a day or so.

So tomorrow I rise at 6am to go to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) which was heavily bombed during the war. This was no mans land between the communist north and the south. The Vietnamese dug tunnels here to give the army a place to escape from the Americans and many civilians ended up living underground for months on end as the war raged on above them. Really looking forward to learning more about this.
